All above board

The legacy of the 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Parapan Am Games lives on at the Pickering Soccer Centre where Matt Greenwood, executive director of the Pickering Soccer Club, has found a clever way to reuse 1.7-metre-high kick boards that were custom built for the Games. Greenwood (pictured) has a total of 80 metres of board, which he runs along the two lengths of the centre’s 40-metre indoor soccer pitch. When used by the centre’s All Abilities program for blind soccer, the boards keep the ball in play and the players can easily identify where the ball is located by the sound it makes when bouncing off the boards, says Greenwood.
