Charlottetown’s New Sports Centre

Charlottetown is replacing its aging Simmons Sports Centre with a new sports and recreation facility featuring an NHL-sized ice pad, a 25-metre swimming pool, fixed seating for more than 300, dressing rooms, a community/multipurpose room, kitchen area and more. Three levels of government are contributing $24.4 million to the project and the building naming rights were sold to local businessman Danny Murphy for $250,000. The new facility will be named the D.P. Murphy Wellness Centre.
